Angela Marshall
Angela graduated with a Degree in Fine Arts with a major in Painting from Otago Polytechnic and then carried on to complete a Secondary Teaching Degree. Since then she has held a position as Head of Art at a Secondary School in Christchurch Angela is also working for the University of Canterbury as a Lecturer of Visual Art for ‘The College of Education’.
She was brought up in Southland and has a strong affiliation with the landscape of Southland, Fiordland and Central Otago. Working from her studio at her home she has found oil paint best applies to the blending, dry brushing and control of the paint for manipulating the landscape.
The style in which Angela works emphasizes mood and atmosphere while unifying the sense of colour of the local landscape. She likes to depict times of changing light, at dusk, dawn or a natural storm of dark clouds filtered through with rain.
Angela hopes that her interpretation will evoke an emotional experience to the viewer through her own connection to the land and nature. A sense of stillness, a mood captured at a moment in time.
