Margaret White
Margaret is inspired by the beauty of New Zealand; Its flora, fauna and the sheer thrill of being immersed in relatively untouched worlds. Margaret’s limited edition graphic linocut prints appeal to those who like her, love nature and the outdoors.
In recent years she has also become known for her printed works on tea bags which combine her love of printmaking with the use of pre-loved materials (and a love of tea!). The process of acquiring the hundreds of tea bags needed for each artwork involves a wider community in her art practice. This has resulted in a unique art form that speaks to people on multiple levels, and has proved to be very popular.
Margaret is an active member of Arts Canterbury, the NZ Print Council, and is very involved in the arts scene in the Selwyn District. She is current chairperson of the Selwyn Central Arts Council. In 2020 she co-founded the Selwyn Artists Collective which now has over 50 artist members. Margaret regularly exhibits in group exhibitions in galleries across the Canterbury region, and is an artist member of both the Te Huanui Gallery and Lakeland Gallery. In 2022 Margaret won the RJ Crouch Award at Darfield Artweek, and was selected for a Juror’s Merit Award at the Arts Canterbury end of year Juried Exhibition.
