Rashi Shandaliya

Rashi Shandiliya was born in India and emigrated to New Zealand in 2013. Rashi graduated in Computer Science & Engineering and developed a successful career as a Software Engineer but her childhood passion for art never faded. Rashi is now wholeheartedly embracing her true calling as an artist.

Rashi’s approach is rooted in theme-based and figurative realism, where she strives to create paintings that are both visually striking and thought-provoking.  Rashi says “My artwork references cultural heritage, inner feelings, and the relationships that shape our sense of self and community. Through my pieces, I examine the complexities of human forms and the ways in which they interact with the world around them.

In July 2024 Rashi was selected by the Judges as one of two only HIGHLY COMMENDED Regional Artists for the STUFF Gold Award during the Auckland Art Show at the amazing Viaduct Event Centre – for her impressive work ‘Draupadi in Mahabharata’.

Rashi adds ‘This oil painting captures the central character of Draupadi in great epic Mahabharata in Hindu mythology, standing as a symbol of grace, of the undying spirit of womanhood and the epitome of feminism. Draupadi’s presence in the epic serves as a reminder of the power of righteousness and the eternal struggle for justice, making her a revered figure in literature, art, and religious thought.’
