Richard Wells
Sculpture

Using traditional techniques and the ancient medium of bronze Richard’s beautiful sculptures tell human stories in a contemporary context.

Originally from Central Otago, Richard lives in Auckland with his wife Nicky and works out of his studio in Ponsonby. He is also the owner of Artworks bronze art casting foundry, the oldest bronze art casting foundry in New Zealand.

Represented by galleries throughout the country, including Parnell Gallery in Auckland and Bryce Gallery in Christchurch, Richard’s sought after, collectable works are held in collections both here and overseas including in the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa’s permanent collection. Public sculptures include “Kuri”, a 3.6 metre dog leaping in to the pond at Queenstown Gardens.
