Studio Reset

Kapiti artist “Studio Reset” is known for her multi sensory encaustic artworks and has been exhibiting and selling those artworks nationally and internationally for over 15 years. She creates in a way that is both holistic and intuitive, while being completely authentic to herself. The process is very much an organic one; supporting sustainability in her art practice by the material she uses.  A few years ago, she began thinking how she could push the boundaries of her beeswax medium and take it into the third dimension. Having been a finalist 2 years in a row and won an RT Nelson Sculpture award in 2023, as well as the Sustainability trust award in 2024 through Art in the Park-Kings Trust, she is well on her way establishing “honeycomb" as a new sculpture medium.

"I have wanted to keep bees forever but my lifestyle did not permit it until I moved to rural Te Horo. You can call me a backyard entomologist.  I started with a couple of topbar hives, observing and obsessing over them for a couple of years before I decided to take the plunge and complete my certificate of apiculture and DECA in 2021.  In a way, I am fulfilling a childhood dream of being a beekeeper.  Since then, I have been harvesting beeswax from my home hives and mixing up my encaustic medium paint for my 2D artworks. I love collaborating with my bees on different works of art and pushing the boundaries of this unique but ancient medium into 3D sculpture”
