Zoe Cromwell
Zoe is a Wellington painter. Born and raised in Dunedin, she spent time teaching, travelling, having a family, and working as a journalist -- among other things -- always drawn to make art as time permitted. She studied batik as a painting technique in Indonesia then finally got to go to art school as a mature student.
In 2002 Zoe graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art with Distinction from Quay School of the Arts in Whanganui.
Zoe has lived and worked as an artist in Solomon Islands, Whanganui, East Africa and most recently the Middle East, exhibiting in each location; her work has been placed throughout New Zealand and also features in collections in Germany, UK, USA and Canada.
Zoe has completed art residencies in Masterton and New Delhi. At the moment she is working on a series of paintings of figures.
In April 2024 Zoe Cromwell was selected by the Judges as one of two only HIGHLY COMMENDED Regional Artists for the STUFF Gold Award during the Wellington Art Show at the wonderful Takina Event Centre – for her evocative work ‘What We Carry’.
