STUFF GOLD AWARD AUCKLAND REGIONAL JUDGE

Who will be chosen as the Auckland Regional Finalist for this prestigious Award?

With record entries in the Auckland leg of the STUFF Art Aotearoa Gold Award the challenges to be faced by the judging panel are escalating.  The judges are up for it though and under the lead of National Judge Karl Chitham, Director of The Dowse in Lower Hutt, have sharpened their pencils, brushed off their clipboards and readied themselves for this undertaking.

Ngaire Stone owner of ArtSelect Gallery in Newmarket, Auckland will be the Auckland Regional Judge – joining Karl Chitham and STUFF Media judge Frances Morton at the amazing Viaduct Event Centre on Friday 12 July 2024, to select the Auckland Regional Finalist. The two Highly Commended Awards will also be selected and announced.

More than 20 years of art sector experience and well-qualified educationally, Ngaire has the added bonus of owning and directing the successful ArtSelect Gallery. Which exhibits and sells a diverse range of both fine and contemporary art. Ngaire is looking forward to the daunting task of selecting the Auckland Finalist from the dozens of entries which will be on exhibition.

In Auckland the third judge on-site will again be STUFF Media representative Frances Morton, an award-winning journalist with more than 20 years experience and now Editor of Life Magazine at Stuff, of Sunday Magazine in the Sunday Star-Times and Your Weekend in The Post, The Press and Waikato Times each week. Frances particular interest in the arts and the role they play in our society will be strengths well-used during this Award’s adjudication process.

Another amazing judging line-up for what is promising to become one of New Zealand’s most innovative, interesting and financially rewarding Art Awards – the STUFF Art Aotearoa Gold Award for Art Excellence – worth $35,000 overall is coming closer and closer to being awarded.
