STUFF GOLD AWARD QUEENSTOWN REGIONAL JUDGES

As we arrive in Queenstown next week, we are very excited to have Norma Dutton and Peter Gregg on board as our regional judges for the next phase in the Stuff Art Aotearoa Gold Award for Art Excellence.

Until very recently the owners and directors of Gallery Thirty Three in Wanaka, both Norma and Peter have a wealth of experience in the arts world. They will be working with Lead Judge Karl Chitham, Director of The Dowse - one of New Zealand’s leading contemporary public galleries, and Frances Morton, the national Judge from Stuff Media.

A quick Q and A with Norma and Peter:

Tell us a bit about yourselves/ what is a regular day in your life like?

After 27 years dealing in the promotion and sale of artworks, we are now both semi-retired. There has never really been a regular day for us. Every day is exciting and there is always plenty to see and do in the artworld.

How did your careers in the arts scene begin?

We started as collectors with a passion for art. Then opened our first gallery The Arthouse, in Christchurch to promote paintings and sculpture on behalf of the artists.

What is your main motivator in your work/life?

The main motivator is to enjoy life and have fun.

What inspires you?

Helping others realise their dreams. Whether that is assisting the artist with sales, developing a great team within the gallery, or finding the right artwork for a client.

What has been the biggest highlight in your work lives so far?

Developing Gallery Thirty Three in Wanaka into a thriving business and a unique art space.

Bonus question, how do you both take your tea?

We would both prefer a wine!

We’re looking forward to enjoying a glass of wine ourselves,  at the opening of The Queenstown Art Show. Where we are all anticipating the announcement of the next winner, in the Stuff Art Aotearoa Gold Award!
