Art Shows Across Aotearoa are creating space at our 2024 shows to exhibit large sculpture - providing opportunities for some of New Zealand’s talented sculptors to move their 3D masterpieces out of their forges and into the public eye.
Most of the big and bold sculptures being exhibited have been born and bred to live life outdoors – however we understand from buyers that many entertaining pieces are not only finding their way into gardens and courtyards but also onto balconies and into the high-rise foyers of buyer’s businesses and even into the entrance-way of art-lovers’ homes.

Ricks has an ability to create something beautiful from the most unforgiving raw materials. He sees potential in found objects and ‘scrap’ metal that others would discard. Small components are often combined to create larger threedimensional forms. Sometimes illusory, the steel structures can appear almost weightless.
Originally from the Netherlands, Ricks has called Hawke’s Bay home since 1978. He initially developed his craft working in wood, before moving predominantly into mixed media and metalwork over the last two decades. This prolific full-time artist has undertaken numerous artistic collaborations and been involved in public sculpture projects throughout NZ.

Art Shows Across Aotearoa are seeking applications from sculptors whose work comes into the large category, for all show locations. STATEMENT SCULPTURE provides large work that our customers have been asking for. We are keen to have large indoor and outdoor sculptural works on display in the great new venues that we are using in 2024.
With a price range of under $200 to over $20,000 there is no price limit on sculpture. We suggest that you keep your buyers in mind when pricing your work. If you have images available of your STATEMENT SCULPTURES or of yourself at work in your forge or your shed out the back, then send your images to us.
