TERMS & CONDITIONS (amended 4-12-24)

The 2025 Stuff Art Aotearoa Gold Award will be run in five progressive stages, one stage at each of the art shows presented by Art Shows Across Aotearoa during 2025, and one final stage to select the national winner.

One local award finalist and three highly commended artists will be selected at each show throughout 2025 by the independent judging panel (supported in part by public vote). Each of these finalists and highly commended artists will be selected prior to each show and announced at the VIP Preview of the show they are exhibiting at.

The OVERALL NATIONAL AWARD WINNER will be selected by the judging panel (supported in part by public vote) from the four local finalists after the final Art Shows Across Aotearoa art show for 2025.

The STUFF $35,000+ ART AOTEAROA GOLD AWARD comprises of both cash and benefits allocated across the four Regional Finalists and the OVERALL NATIONAL AWARD WINNER as follows:

Each REGIONAL SHOW FINALIST: $1,000 CASH plus Complimentary 1 x 5 Panel 2026 Exhibition Pack at that Location: Exhibition Pack Value $1,580

OVERALL NATIONAL AWARD WINNER: $20,000 CASH, plus a complimentary 5 Panel 2026 Exhibition Pack at each of the other four 2026 Show Locations: Exhibition Pack Value $6,320.00

A prerequisite to enter the 2025 Stuff Art Aotearoa Gold Award is acceptance to exhibit in the specific Art Shows Across Aotearoa show that you are submitting your award to. One entry for this award per show acceptance, per artist.

A non-refundable entry fee of $25 plus GST is applicable to each award entry.

Entry into the 2025 Stuff Art Aotearoa Gold Award is open to anyone over 18 years old currently living permanently in New Zealand or who has New Zealand citizenship.

Applications to enter the award are made on application to exhibit at one of the ASAA’s 2025 location shows.

Exhibition pack prizes are non-transferable.

The independent judging panel will include a national judge, along with a STUFF judge, and a public vote content.
ARTWORK ENTRIES

The artist can enter one only original wall hung artwork, at each regional show.

The artwork submitted can be no larger than 1200mm x 1200mm x 50mm inclusive of framing, professionally presented, and ready to hang.

Artwork entries can be single or mixed media paintings, drawings, digital works, photographs and similar. Prints are not accepted. If in doubt about the compliance of your proposed entry, please contact organisers prior to submitting your entry, to clarify.

The artwork entered must have been completed within one calendar year prior to the entry date and may not have been previously exhibited publicly anywhere at all, including galleries, exhibitions, art shows, art trails, artist’s own studio or online including an artist’s own website, Instagram, Facebook and similar.

All artworks must have secure surfaces eg: fragile pastel and charcoal surfaces must be ‘fixed’. All works must be dry.

All artworks must be ready and easy to hang. That is, they must be professionally presented and be suitable strung, with wire/cord attached to D rings with no protruding nails or screws. The artwork must be dry. If not presented in a ready-to-hang manner the artwork may be rejected and will not be hung.

All entries are to be for sale.

The organisers reserve the right to reject any non-compliant or unsuitable artworks for any reason whatsoever with no discussion being entered into.

Any correspondence between the artist and the organisers is confidential and will not be shared with third parties unless authorised.
TO COMPLETE YOUR SUBMISSION

You will be sent a submission link that will require you to enter the images and information required below. This link will require you to tick off each requirement to acknowledge that your entry is valid for adjudication.

The submission link must be completed 25 days before the opening night of the Show for which that entry has been made, to be valid.

FOUR high resolution images of the entered artwork, including one high resolution image showing the scale of the artwork, one high resolution image showing close-up detail and one work of the artist with the award entry, one image of the work.

High resolution images are to be uploaded in JPEG file format no greater than 2 MB.

Images must be a true and accurate representation of the artwork entered.

The image file name to include artists initials only, the artwork dimensions in millimetres (WxHxD) and the artwork’s unique name eg AB 1000 x 800 x 45mm Unique Artwork Name.

Award entrants must submit an up-to-date Artist Bio of not less than 150 words, for publication on their Artist Profile page on the ASAA website.

Entrants give their permission for bios, photos, videos and images of themselves and their work to be used for marketing and promotional purposes on the web, on social media platforms and in print including all ASAA Art Show platforms.
JUDGING

Judging at each location will be undertaken by an independent 2-person panel with a public vote content.

The independent panel of judges will select 4 artworks from the submission link entries that are completed for the regional show by the due date, these 4 artworks will be submitted for a public vote via STUFF Media platform and Art Shows Across Aotearoa. The resulting public votes will be presented to the independent judging panel and form 50% of the final vote for the regional finalist. The public voting process will be used to access media coverage with STUFF’s innovative interactive voting platform to maximise public awareness, allowing increased exposure for the award and artists.

At each show the four selected artworks, are to be delivered to the sales desk during load in and will be hung on the STUFF wall. The local finalist winner will be announced at the VIP Preview event. Each of the four artists will be required to be available for appropriate media purposes at the VIP Preview event.

After the final show for 2025, the 4 regional winning works will be submitted for a public vote via STUFF Media platform and Art Shows Across Aotearoa. The resulting public votes will be presented to the independent judging panel and form 50% of the final vote for the national winner. The public voting process will be used to access media coverage with STUFF’s innovative interactive voting platform to maximise public awareness, allowing increased exposure for the award and artists.

The national winner will be announced (date to be advised), via a national STUFF and Art Shows Across Aotearoa promotion throughout Aotearoa.

Judging decisions are final, and no discussion is to be entered into.
