Auckland Judge

Art Shows Across Aotearoa is delighted to announce Ngaire Stone the owner and director of ArtSelect Gallery in Auckland city as the Auckland Regional Judge for the recently established ASAA Gold Award for Art Excellence.

This national Award generously sponsored by Stuff Media has an overall value of $35,000+ and will be progressively adjudicated across four major Art Shows in four different New Zealand cities throughout 2024 culminating in the overall Gold Award Presentation to a single winner in November 2024.

Ngaire will be working with Lead Judge Karl Chitham Director of The Dowse one of New Zealand’s leading contemporary galleries and third Judge from Stuff Media at the Auckland Art Show at the Viaduct Events centre in July to select the third of the regional finalists to go through to the top four.

Ngaire Stone is the owner and director of ArtSelect Gallery, a dealer gallery situated in Newmarket, Auckland. In 2004, after years of immersion in dealer and public galleries both local and international, Ngaire as a mature student completed her BA degree majoring in Art History at Victoria University of Wellington.

Recognising the ability art has to enrich and enhance people’s lives and transport them to other realms in a positive way, Ngaire worked first in a Wellington gallery then in 2009 moved to Auckland as part-owner of a CBD gallery which then relocated to Newmarket in 2013. In 2020 she became the sole owner of ArtSelect Gallery on the same site.

ArtSelect Gallery specialises in fine and contemporary art, exhibiting and selling a diverse range of artworks including sculpture. Ngaire’s recognition and support of established artists and her fostering the work and talent of emerging artists continues to attract patrons and new buyers alike to the Gallery.
